54. delaware also seeing a really nice start to this friday. newark at 58. harmony hills, 52. reedy point seeing low 60s now. georgetown at 58. allendale currently at 59. lincoln, your current temperature, 58 for you. a live look outside, penn's landing, a gorgeous start to the day. mostly cloudy skies, high pressure system is our weather maker. it looks like we will see a cold front later today. for most part, a lovely day all around. your out-the-door forecast looks like this -- 68 at 9:00 a.m. ten degrees warmer by 1:00 p.m. a mix of sun and clouds. a few extra clouds tonight by 6:00 p.m. seeing 77 degrees with a few clouds developing. that's because that's when the cold front sweeps through. i mentioned earlier we may see an increase in the clouds, possibly one or two sprinkles, that's possible there. jersey shore 74 degrees at 1:00 p.m. by 5:00 p.m., seeing 76 degrees. back to you.

[ screams ] >> the attack sent people screaming into the streets. the gunman stuffed a backpack with casino chips and ran from the building. authorities say he apparently killed himself in an adjacent hotel. we'll have updates on air and on our nbc10 app. this morning, we're following a developing story. the trump administration is

asking the supreme court to immediately reinstate the president's ban on travelers from six mostly muslim countries. an appeals court has blocked the ban. >> what are we going to do? >> fight back! >> protests erupted in new york and washington after president trump pulled out -- pulled the u.s. out of the paris climate accord. the president claimed the deal benefited other countries at the direct expense of other jobs and economic growth while giving heavy polluters such as china and india advantages over the u.s. this morning there's growing fallout abroad and in our region. >> and pamela osborne is in the digital operations center tracking reaction. there is a cause for concern for a lot of people. tell us more about that. >> reporter: yeah, the whole idea of the paris climate accord is to change, reduce the amount of emissions that cause climate change. if they are not reduced, scientists predict the oceans will rise faster, and there will be more extreme storms like superstorm sandy. we talked to experts at the

shore who fear that the future of the jersey shore is being put at risk by the president's decision to pull out of the accord. >> we know that there are negative effects of climate change, and we should be doing more about it, not less. >> reporter: in rittenhouse square last night, 200 concerned citizens packed the church of holy trinity on walnut street. these were local environmentalists hoping to speak with senator pat toomey who was invited, but he did not attend. one mother we spoke to says she understands the president wants to negotiate a better deal, but she doesn't think it's worth the risk. >> the united states continues to be the largest carbon polluter per capita in the world. i think about the common sense lessons that we teach our children -- you make a mess, you clean it up. >> reporter: and mayor kinney says philadelphia will uphold the commitment. and pennsylvania governor wolf said, "i'm disappointed the president has chosen this path."

the u.s. now one of only three countries that have declined to participate in that agreement. >> president obama released a statement on president trump's decision saying, "the nations that remain in the paris agreement will be the nation that's reap the benefits in jobs and industries created. i believe the united states of america should be at the front of that pact." we're hearing new details about the pennsylvania man arrested inside the trump international hotel in washington, d.c., after police found weapons and ammo in his car. 43-year-old brian moles of erie county made his first court appearance. in court documents police said their initial tip came from an acquaintance who said he was traveling to d.c. "in order to get closer to president trump." philadelphia police looking for a student who hit his principal in the face while the educator was trying to break up a fight. it happened wednesday out the fitler academics plus school in germantown. the school official said students ganged up on principal

boone and hit him with a brook. boone suffer -- a brick. boone suffered facial injuries and needed eight stitches. and more details on the attempted murder of a 7-year-old philadelphia girl. her 18-year-old brother is being held on $5 million bail. he's accused of crime. samir alpert's mother called police saying her son had taken a car without permission and had a problem with drugs. she went into the home to retrieve vehicle information for the police and found her 7-year-old daughter unresponsive with a plastic bag over her head. the child is in critical condition. 6:06. customers of pse&g will be paying less for some services and more for others. the new jersey power company says customers will now get a decrease of 2.5% on their electric bills. gas customers could see a 3.5% increase in the fall. pse&g says that means the average customer will have to pay $31 more per year. today, construction along septa's kinwood regional rail

all week we've taken you on a shore tour. >> today matt delucia's checking out the restaurant scene in rehoboth beach and new places to grab a bite. matt? >> reporter: all right. i saved the best for last, food, my favorite part. over the past years, along the boardwalk, some of them here and farther into town. we checked a couple giving a new flavor to the season. >> awesome retailers, world-class restaurants, totally diverse group of different kinds of food styles, ethinext foods, beach -- ethnic foods, beach food, high end. >> reporter: what this place has toouse has it, you're that farboardwalk.

we're four blocks. back then it was considered crazy. >> reporter: maybe not. he built anoer next door, and they've jout grown their ig with a new season, there's a new out. you know, live to us. eating dishes that go well with dogfish head's beer selection. >> the 90-minute cheddar sauce, pulled rotisserie meat tossed with arugula on top. >> reporter: come fall, the old restaurant will fall to make way for a deck and a courtyards. >> that will be ready -- a courtyard. >> that will be ready for next year. >> take your time. >> reporter: a few blocks away we go from pouring cheers to shucking oysters. >> it's crazy. in the summer you're shucking around 7,000 a week. >> reporter: the pen lopen city oyster house isn't new, but the co-owner opened the blue hen a few doors down. he's a restauranteur with

experience and is looking ahead. >> it goes out, pretty much the same crew since we've been open. we get a lot of people coming back every supper. college kids, high school kids -- every summer. college kids, high school kids, my son, my bartender's daughter lives here. >> reporter: dozens of places for the foodies and the famished. >> it's gotten busier and busier every year. more and more people. instead of having two busy days, friday, saturday, you have every day is friday, saturday. >> reporter: and it is friday after all. folks here gearing up for another busy weekend. and hopefully more to come. and it might look a little different if you haven't been here in a while. if you come down to rehoboth beach for nothing else, it should be for the sunrise. over the past half hour to 45 minutes, it has been beautiful here along the beach. people have been coming with lawn chairs watching that sunrise, gorgeous. we'll have a glimpse of that later in the show here. it is breakfast time. i'm going to get food now. >> of course you are. >> reporter: back to you. >> sunrise is great, but we come for the food. we're all hangry in here.

the out-the-door forecast looks like this -- starting off in the 60s now in philadelphia. 78 by 1:00 p.m. a mix of sun and clouds. notice by 5:00 p.m., more clouds developing. a cold front will dig through. i think it will increase cloud coverage, possibly squeeze out sprinkles for the p.a. suburbs. seeing mid 70s by 1:00 p.m., mid 70s by 5:00 p.m. it looks like the lehigh valley. also keep it in the 70s for today. south jersey, new jersey, seeing temperatures in the upper 70s by 1:00 p.m. upper 70s by 5:00 p.m. overall a great day. topping out in the 80s in many areas, the lehigh valley in 70s and 80s. watching the schuylkill expressway, around the cameras at 202, everything looks good. you see the sun, it looks nice. 17 minutes, the eastbound side here. 17 minutes for the drive time. in total from the blue to the vine street expressway, speeds dropped to 16. we're doing really well on the schuylkill now. average speeds there into the mid 40s. everything's still moving.

seeing a little bit of slowdowns, but that's normal for now. light for now also. watching in pottstown for this accident out in south street around cross street and some sun glare on the garden state parkway. hard to see here. this is actually near the cape may toll plaza. it's right here. northbound and southbound, maybe a car or two moving by at a time. watching for some of the sun glare. we'll end on 422 where we are seeing some delays. 11 minutes on the eastbound side from 29 to the schuylkill. >> thank you. this morning, a philadelphia councilman is recovering at home after he was stabbed. nbc10 got the new show of david oh with his family in kingsessing last night. police are hunting for his attacker. katy zachry is live with southwest detectives. what's the councilman saying about the attack? >> reporter: one of our biggest takeaways from our conversation with david oh is the fact that he remained exceptionally calm during the ordeal. during most of the ordole --

ordeal, he tried to talk down his attacker. after he was stabbed, he didn't even run away. we spoke to the councilman yesterday after he was discharged from the hospital. earlier in the day, his wife and two of his four children met him after a successful surgery. he was stabbed in the diaphragm. and he was cut on his forearm trying to shield his face and neck from the attacker's lunges. he had just arrived home from work and was unpacking his car in front of his west philadelphia home when a man walked up to him, demanded his keys and wallet, councilman oh has never been stabbed before, but he said it felt more like a gut punch than anything. >> he kind of like punched me and i knew it was a weird punch. i said, did you stab me? and he had. i saw the weapon. >> reporter: the councilman

knows he's lucky. his family has dealt with far worse tragedy before. a cousin who was a student at the university of pennsylvania was killed by a mob as he mailed a letter. this happened about 50 years ago, but still, this is something that councilman oh told us yesterday has shaped him as a person. back live with southwest detectives, not only are they looking for the attacker in the knife attack, but they are looking for anyone in the neighborhood, 58th and thomas avenue, who may have private surveillance cameras and may have caught the attack on video. reporting live, katy zachry, nbc10 news. >> thanks for the update. 6:34. today, former penn state president graham spanier and two former administrators will be sentenced in the jerry sandusky sex abuse case. a jury convicted span injury of child endangerment. gary shultz and tim curley pleaded guilty to the same charge. prosecutors say the three administrators covered up an allegation of child sex abuse by sandusky back in 2001. also today, the future of

greek life at penn state could hinge on a family's emotional plea following the death of a fraternity pledge. the board of trustees said they will consider a letter sent by them -- to them by the parents of timothy piazza at a special meeting today. the student from north jersey died after falling during a frat party down a flight of stairs. 18 members of the frat are criminally charged in connection with his death. in their letter to the board, piazza's parents wrote, "our son died on your watch. we will never see him again because of the administration's failures to protect him, and turning a blind eye to known problems. you now have an obligation to make sure this never happens again." we'll keep you posted on the board's decision on our and our nbc10 app. now we'll take you state by state and county by county for a look at stories from across our region. >> yeah. if you live in the borough of east greenville and montgomery county, you'll need to call state police if you have an emergency. east greenville was covered by a police department but statewided

to form its own -- decided to form its own department. and the partnership with the prior police department expired wednesday night. an interim police chief began duty yesterday. right now state police are handling most matters until the department is up and running. in bucks county, a school bus driver is being tested to see if he was under the influence while in the bus line. police were called to the high school wednesday afternoon after employees suspected something was wrong. the middletown police chief says a breathalyzer test gave them probable cause to draw blood. results should come back in a week or two. in camden county, police are asking for help in finding a pair of movie theater bandits. investigators stole a wallet at the carmike theater in voorheis while the victim was watching the movie. the bandits racked up more than $1,000 in charges at a nearby target. nascar weekend will get underway today at dover international speedway. qualifiers and a 200-mile truck race set for this afternoon. the monster mile refs up tomorrow at the xfinity 200.

here are stories we're following -- >> in camden county, the final farewell for a helicopter pilot with ties to our nbc10 family. a visitation and funeral are scheduled for michael murphy. he was training in inclement weather when his chopper crashed in new castle. murphy was a backup pilot for sky force 10. his wife, erica, pregnant with their second son, told us michael was a great father and husband who loved to fly. in harrisburg, former penn state president graham spanier and two former administrators will be sentenced in the jerry sandusky child sex abuse case. a jury convicted spanier of child endangerment. two others pled guilty to the same allegations of covering up child sex abuse by sandusky in 2001. presidents' day's board of trustees will -- penn state's board of trustees will consider an emotional letter from the parents of fraternity pledge timothy piazza who died after falling at a frat party. 18 members of the fraternity are
